We will spend approximately 1.5 hours at Lake Louise. You will have time to ice skate on the frozen lake. 

To save time, we would recommend renting Ice Skates prior to your tour. You pre-book your ice skates here and collect the evening before your scheduled tour. 

You can rent snowshoes and ice skates from our Banff Adventures Activity Centre on Bear Street. We would recommend reserving your equipment for the day of your tour in advance to guarantee availability.

You can reserve your rentals here. When selecting your winter rentals, please ensure you select the same date as your tour. You will be able to collect your rental the evening before you tour.

Ice Skate rentals are available to Chateau Lake Louise. However, they are often sold out with long line ups. Save time and money by renting in advance!

Distance: 1.3km (0.81 miles) round-trip
Elevation: 78m (256 ft)
Duration: Approximately 45 minutes

This is an optional hike. Please note that you cannot view the lake from the parking lot. 

Please be prepared for the mountain weather, it changes quickly, and our winter sightseeing tours run in all weather.  Participants can choose to participate in a lakeside walk during your tour.   Wind chill can change the temperature dramatically and we recommend dressing appropriately.  There is opportunity to shelter inside the Chateau Lake Louise.

To ensure that you enjoy your time outside during the tour, please wear/bring:

Thermals/base layers/long johns.
A warm shirt or sweater.
A winter jacket.  Ski jackets can be rented from stores in Banff such as Snowtips-Bactrax.
A hat and mitts.
A neck warmer or scarf.
Sturdy winter boots.  Winter boots like Sorel, Baffin etc are great. No trainers, sneakers, vans, ugg boots, or “dressy” boots. If you do not have winter boots, we recommend a rental store such as Snowtips-Bactrax.
A water bottle.

Lunch is not included on Lake Louise & Icefields Parkway tour. We do provide a light snack. You will be able to purchase grab-and-go food and beverages at the Chateau Lake Louise (Fairmont Hotel). Please note prices can be expensive. 

We will provide hot beverages including tea, coffee and hot chocolate and have a water container to refil water bottles.

Weather in the mountains is unpredictable and forecasts can be misleading. In winter, the weather is variable and can change quickly. Some days can be above 0C (32F), whilst some days can be -30C (-22F).

We recommend checking the weather forecast prior to the tour to ensure you are prepared with the appropriate clothing and footwear. 

This tour is designed for small groups of up to 12 passengers.

We pick up from most hotels in Banff, Canmore and Harvie Heights. You can select your preferred pick-up location during the booking process.

There is a 48 hour cancellation policy, which allows you to change/cancel or refund your booking up to 48 hours outside your booked tour (up to 10 days for group bookings). No Shows and late comers will not be accommodated.
