Western BBQ & Horseback Ride

Western BBQ & Line Dancing: The shuttle pick-up location is the Public Bus Parking at the Mount Royal Hotel. You must choose a shuttle time of 5:30pm, 6pm or 6:30pm at the time of booking.

Bow River Horseback River: Warner Stables, the big red stables located at the end of Sundance Road in Banff. When you arrive, please check-in for your ride at the office in the east barn which has signs for ‘Banff Trail Riders Stables’ and ‘office’. The stables are located approximately a five minute drive or a 20 minute walk from downtown Banff, and there is plenty of free parking at the site.

Guests participating in horseback riding will need to be 8 years or over and a maximum of 230lbs. As part of the check-in process, guests may be required to confirm their current weight on a scale and provide proof of the child’s age. In the event that these requirements are not met, the booking will be forfeited without a refund.

For safety purposes helmets are mandatory to be worn by all riders. If guests wear a headdress, there is a safe space provided to change into the helmet. Riders must wear sturdy closed toed shoes enclosed to the ankle – no open toe shoes or shoes with big heels.

Please note that children will not be paired with an adult – they must ride their own horse.

Please ensure that you arrive 30 minutes before the ride is scheduled to depart. Late arrivals will not be permitted to ride. 

While we cannot accommodate individual dietary requests, the Western BBQ buffet includes options suitable for different dietary needs, including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free selections.

Ticket includes:‍

• Private shuttle service with downtown Banff pickup and drop-off (10 mins)
• Passed appetizers served on the mountain view meadow
• Cowboy BBQ buffet feast featuring Alberta beef and a hearty spread of dishes and sides
• Live country band and line dancing lessons
• Bonfire and s'mores in the Rundle roundhouse
• Lawn games and a scavenger hunt for kids
• Kids are free on the 5:30pm shuttle bus

Event Details:
5:30 pm - First private shuttle departs from the parking lot at the Mount Royal Hotel
5:45 pm - Live music and passed appetizers on the meadow
6:45 pm - Western BBQ buffet feast is served
7:45 pm - Live band and line dancing lessons
8:00 pm - Return shuttles start and drop off at the Mount Royal Hotel, running on a loop
10:00 pm - Last shuttle departs Banff Park Ranch for downtown Banff

Western BBQ & Line Dancing: We encourage Western wear! Jeans, boots, and hats are always welcome. The event is outdoors and indoors, so dress for comfort and bring a layer or two for the weather.

Bow River Horseback Ride: You must wear sturdy, closed toed shoes enclosed to the ankle and long pants are best for riding. Please note that sandals of any kind are not permitted. Helmets are provided and are mandatory for all riders and mosquito repellent is highly recommended.

At the Western BBQ, we’re ready for all weather with covered areas inside the Rundle and Cascade Roundhouses, plus plenty of western spirit to keep things warm. We recommend dressing for the weather and bringing a light jacket in case the mountains surprise us.

Horseback rides run rain or shine, so please dress for the weather. Please do not wear a rain poncho, as they can flap in the wind and spook the horses.

Western BBQ & Line Dancing: Guests receive a 70% Refund if cancelled at least 48 hours before activity time. Activity is Non-refundable for cancellations inside 48 hours. This will be pro-rated based on the package rate.

Bow River Horseback Ride: There is a 24 hour cancellation policy, which allows you to change/cancel or refund your booking up to 24 hours outside your booked tour. No shows and late comers will not be accommodated and are non-refundable.
