Heli-Skiing in Banff

Nestled in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, Banff, Alberta is one of North America’s premiere ski and snowboard destinations. Each year, this bustling town comes to life over the winter time with guests from all over the world eager to tackle its many slopes. For those looking for something out of the ordinary, there’s no denying that heli-skiing takes your day on the mountain to the next level! Travel a short distance to either Golden or Panorama BC (transport options are available for Panorama), and discover a whole new world of breathtaking views and powder just waiting to be explored in the Purcell Mountains.


What to expect

Banff Adventures offers two destinations to choose from when selecting your heli-skiing packages, as well as the opportunity to choose either 3, 5, or 2 day (Golden only) packages. Each tour includes your heliflight, certified guide, rental of powder skis, cooked breakfast or picnic lunch. For those electing for the 2-day option, trips do not need to be taken on consecutive days, and can fall on any day of the week. After taking a short ride to your destination, guides will split the group according to skill level so as to ensure everyone gets ample opportunities to explore at their own pace.


Important aspects to note: All participants must be a minimum of 14 years of age with a legal guardian or 18 and up a solo traveler. Due to the demands of fresh powder, these tours are best suited to intermediate to advanced skiiers or boarders. Should inclimate weather or other unforeseen circumstances prevent your tour from departing, you will have the option to either receive a full refund in the same form as your original payment, or re-book. If you only complete a portion of the day and have to return early due to circumstances beyond our control, refunds will be calculated at a rate of $100.00 per run not skied. If you choose to stop skiing prior to the completing the allotted amount of runs in your package, no refund will be issued if you do not have trip cancellation insurance. Banff Adventures will not be held responsible for refunding any trips that are not able to be taken on their originally reserved dates. Guests who do not use their full package due to injury, poor skiing ability or insufficient fitness level do not qualify for refunds.

  1. Will The Weather Affect My Tour?
    Yes. While we do our best to ensure that each tour goes off without a hitch, your safety is always our foremost concern. Weather conditions may affect the helicopter’s ability to fly, as well as your time up on the mountain. Should your flight be cancelled or your trip cut short due to unforeseen circumstances, Banff Adventures will refund according to the policy above.
  2. What Are Your Age Requirements
    All tour participants must be at least 14 years of age with a parent or legal guardian or 18 years and up for solo bookings.
  3. How Experienced Do I Need To Be/What Level Of Fitness Should I Have?
    The conditions for heli-skiing can be quite demanding for novice skiiers, therefore we recommend all participants have at least an intermediate to advanced level of experience for safety and enjoyment purposes. Where fitness level is concerned, we recommend that you are able to sustain yourself for the allotted amount of runs you purchase as any runs voluntarily opted out of will not be refunded.
  4. Do Two-Day Packages Need To Be Scheduled Back To Back?
    No. Two day packages can be taken on different days within the same season.
