Horseback Riding Summed Up

Touring on the back of a horse is a completely unique way to explore Banff and the breathtaking Rocky Mountains. Not a fast-paced sprint through the trails, horseback riding is an enjoyable and relaxing experience, perfect for people wanting a tour that is as close to nature as possible. No noisy machines, no need for heavy equipment, just hang on and enjoy the ride! These friendly animals are your companions, trained and experienced around people, accommodating and well mannered. For ages six and up, there are over 300 horses, and our knowledgeable guides will help find the perfect one for you.

What Options Are Available?

Trail Rides

We offer three different trail ride options that explore the many different trails around Banff National Park. These are horseback riding packages that range from one to three hours in duration.

  • 1 hour horseback ride through Spray River
  • 2 hour horseback ride through the Sundance Loop
  • 3 hour horseback ride around Sulphur Mountain

Wilderness Cook Outs

Our cookout horseback riding packages are offered for whatever time of day best suites you, and the ideal meal that accompanies it! With steak dinner or a rustic western lunch for all-day riders, our packages will really bring the old fashioned spirit out of you.

  • 3 hour lunch ride along the Bow River
  • 3 hour dinner horseback ride
  • 7 hour day ride with rustic BBQ lunch

Back Country & Pack Trips

These are some of the most rustic and exceptional packages you can experience in the Banff National Park. A horseback ride to an old fashioned lodge in the mountains, the pack trips offer a comprehensive experience unlike anything else. These are amazing for romantic getaways, family vacations or even a group of friends looking for a unique adventure.

  • 2 to 6 day trips with horseback riding and log cabin stays
  • Sundance Lodge has 10 sleeping rooms
  • Halfway Lodge accommodates 14 guests

The Sundance and Halfway Lodges are exquisite log cabins with wood stoves, hot showers and hearty ranch style meals. An exotic getaway that offers comfort along with an opportunity to travel back in time and experience a different way of life.
