Horseback is a relaxing activity fit for the whole family and is a great way to connect to Canada’s history by exploring the region the same way many of our founding adventurers did. Traverse Alberta’s rugged landscape with the help of skilled guides and learn more about the history of Banff while taking in unbeatable views of the Bow and Spray River.

What to expect

Horseback rides typically operate from mid-May until mid-October, weather dependent, and offer riders six different tours to choose, each ranging in length from one to four hours. Suitable for riders of all experience levels, our horseback riding tours are designed to give you a taste of what Banff’s original settlers experienced over 200 years ago. Departing from Warner Stables, each trail ride will give you the chance to view different parts of the region, with our cowboy cookouts allowing you to get a real taste for the Wild West with an included BBQ meal as part of your adventure.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What do I need to wear?
For maximum comfort and safety, all riders must wear closed-toed shoes (no sandals or high heels). Long pants are strongly recommended, as is sunscreen and a hat on hot sunny days.
  2. Do I need to have any previous riding experience?
No! Our horses are incredibly docile and suitable for those with little to no experience on horseback.
  3. Can I bring my little ones?
Horseback riding is suitable for children ages 8 and up. For the safety of everyone involved, we ask parents to help prepare your little ones in advance so that they know to be aware of their surroundings and to avoid roughhousing around the stables or on the trail.
  4. Do you offer extended trail rides?
Yes! For those looking for the ultimate Wild West adventure, we do offer extended backcountry lodge trips ranging duration from two to six days.
