What’s Your Style of Adventure
One of the best things about visiting Banff any time of the year is that there’s truly something here for everyone, and winter is no exception. Whether you’re a die-hard adventurer or like to go at your own pace, Banff is your very own playground just waiting for you to explore. For over 20 years, Banff Adventures has welcomed visitors from all over the world to our favourite part of the Canadian wilderness and helped them create lasting memories with the whole family. Whether you’re looking for a quick romantic getaway with your special someone or an adventure that’s suitable for the whole family, we have you covered! If you’re planning a winter getaway this year, why not consider one of the following family-friendly activities:
Johnston Canyon Ice walks
You may have heard of how popular Johnston Canyon is during the summer thanks to its stunning features and breathtaking falls, but did you know the canyon is still accessible during the winter?
Ice Walks are a great, accessible, way to explore the beauty of Banff National Park while still sticking within your comfort zone. Each year, as temperatures drop, the falls begin to freeze and transform into twisted statues of glistening ice that are sure to take your breath away. Thanks to the carefully carved trail that winds through the canyon, you can navigate with ease (sturdy footwear is highly recommended), and during the day, you’ll be able to the full glory of the frozen falls which make for a picture-perfect backdrop. For those looking to amp up the experience, you can also visit after sundown and explore via headlamp.
Tours range in duration from 2.5-4hrs and give you plenty of opportunities to explore the canyon.
Sleigh Rides
Dashing through the snow! If you’re ready to bring the age-old Christmas carol to life, there’s no better place to experience a sleigh ride than Banff National Park! Whether you’re hoping to wow your special someone (and maybe even pop a certain question) or treat your littlest adventurers to an experience they’ll be talking about for years to come, sleigh rides truly are a magical experience for everyone. With both family and private options available, there’s never been a better time to experience the magic of Banff by sleigh.
