Your honeymoon should be one of the most memorable trips of your life! You'll want time to bond with your new spouse and your first vacation as a married couple should have a mix of romantic activities and exciting, novel experiences that you can reflect on years from now. Here are some extraordinary ideas for your honeymoon in Banff.

Going on a Summer Honeymoon

The summer months of June, July and August are the prime time to get married and go on a honeymoon. To experience Banff in all its glory during your honeymoon, try these activities to get you our in nature while on your trip.

  • Hike & Picnic: Pack a picnic lunch and take a long stroll on one of the scenic trails in Banff National Park. Choose one that suits your fitness level and abilities.
  • Go Canoeing: You'll have plenty of time to chat, laugh and paddle along as a team when you rent a canoe or take a guided tour on the Bow River.
  • Cruise on Lake Minnewanka: Take a sunset cruise on Lake Minnewanka. It's famous for the beautiful clean, aqua glacial water.

Winter Honeymoon

It's becoming more common for people to get married in the wintertime. Banff is truly gorgeous when it's covered in snow, and winter doesn't mean there is a lack of fun and romantic activities in Banff for a honeymoon.

  • Try Dogsledding: Not many people can say that they have been dogsledding, try something new to celebrate your developing marriage and go for a ride on a sled pulled by huskies.
  • Go on a sleigh ride: Take a horse drawn sleigh ride and bring a Thermos of hot chocolate to enjoy along the way.
  • Tubing or sledding: Feel like a kid again and take the time to laugh and enjoy winter by breaking out the toboggan, or tube and heading for Lake Louise Sunny Tube Park or on the base of Mt. Norquay.

We also recommend the Banff Upper Hot Springs is wonderful choice for either summer or winter honeymoons.

Restaurants for Romantic Meals on Your Honeymoon:

La Terrazza: The Banff Park Lodge has an awe-inspiring view of Sulphur Mountain and Mt. Norquay and is home to La Terraza where you can enjoy their menu of modern and authentic Italian fare.

Eden: French cuisine with a twist using local ingredients. Great vegetarian and cheese menu. This restaurant has won some accolades for their wine list.

Three Ravens Restaurant & Bar: Overlooking lush mountains covered in evergreens and pure white with snow in winter. A range of seafood, beef, and chicken. They also have a nine-page wine list as well.
