Whitewater Rafting from Banff

Located 75 minutes away from Banff in gorgeous Golden, BC, the Kicking Horse River is famous for big waves, wild waters, and some of the best views the Rockies have to offer. With the rafting season typically beginning in May each year, guests from all over the world flock to Banff National Park to try their hand at conquering the river. As the rafting company located closest to the river (our River Base is located right on the banks of the Kicking Horse River), you'll get plenty of extra time on the water. We also offer family adventures on the Kananaskis River, just 45 minutes east of Banff. These trips are perfect for kids aged 5-11 years as they get a taste of the rapids, without hitting the big stuff!

What to expect

After suiting up in the comfort of our exclusive river base, you’ll receive an orientation to help you prepare for your time on the water and learn how to stay safe while navigating the Kicking Horse. Guided by our experienced crew members, you’ll raft class I-IV rapids starting with the serene upper canyon, and then make your way to the rougher waters of the Portage/Shotgun section. With trips departing daily from as early as 9:15am (Kicking Horse Classic AM) and as late as 3:30 pm (Last Waltz), there’s no shortage of opportunities to claim your very own whitewater adventure! The Kananaskis family adventures depart at 1:30pm daily. Guests must meet at site. Once you're geared up, you'll hit the rapids. Get ready to get splashed from the rapids or maybe a rival boat water fight!
