Banff National Park is a year-round paradise that welcomes people from all walks of life to this stunning slice of Canadian paradise season after season. From attracting diehard ski fanatics during the winter to transforming it into a sunny playground during the summer months, there’s truly something here for everyone to enjoy. Key things to keep in mind when travelling to Banff are:
Park Entry Fees
As a National Park, Banff requires visitors to pay entry and service fees that help to preserve the park and contribute to the overall upkeep of public facilities. For Summer 2022, the Park Fees can be found here. For those planning on visiting multiple times, you can also look at ordering a park pass which will allow you to enter any National Park in Canada without having to pay daily fees throughout your trip.
The Bow Valley Region, including Banff and Canmore, is busy throughout the summer months, so it’s important to book in advance of your visit. Banff and Canmore have a wide range of accommodation styles available including everything from campgrounds to five-star luxury resorts. Campsites and hotel rooms, as well as Airbnb and private rentals, fill up quickly, so the sooner you book, the better.
The Mountains are notorious for their fickle weather patterns, and even though the summer months are known for warm sunny days, you’ll want to make sure you pack different layers of clothing to adapt to constantly changing temperatures. Rain, wind, and even snow (Yes! Even in the summer!) are all possible, so making sure you’re able to dress accordingly is one of the best ways to ensure you’re as comfortable, and safe, as possible.
Respect the Wild
There’s no shortage of natural wonder to be found in Banff National Park, and it’s important to make sure that all visitors do their best to respect the tranquillity and safety of all creatures within the park during your stay. Guests should be aware that there are heavy fines for littering, harming the land, as well as feeding and approaching wildlife. When it comes to the animals in the park, never get close to the wildlife. Cute as they may seem, they are wild animals that need adequate space and respect. We are in their world, and it’s important to make sure you, your children and fellow guests know how to react should you come across an animal while hiking, driving, etc.
