Why Visit Banff in Winter?

It’s no secret that Banff is a world-renowned spot for outdoor enthusiasts during the winter months, and it has earned its title as a winter wonderland for several good reasons. Alongside famous ski hills like Sunshine Village, Mt. Norquay and Lake Louise (book your lessons here!), the stunning views and endless avenues for adventure draw in guests from all over the globe to enjoy the magic of the Canadian wilderness all winter long. Whether you’re looking for big thrills like heli-skiing or looking for something a little more low-key, there’s truly something here for adventurers of all ages and experience levels to enjoy all winter long. Some of our visitors’ favourite winter activities include:

Sleigh Rides

Nothing says 'winter wonderland' quite like dashing through the snow pulled by majestic steeds and guides that know the area better than anyone else. Sleigh rides are a wonderful way to keep the magic of the holidays alive all winter and are a safe and fun activity accessible for the entire family. Banff Adventures is proud to offer multiple options for guests, including tours in both a western or private one-horse sleigh and romantic private sleigh rides that are perfect for couples looking to celebrate their love surrounded by the beauty of the mountains.

Strap on your warmest gear and venture into Johnston and Grotto Canyon for a trek you’re sure to remember, surrounded by ice giants and the magnificence of nature at every turn.  Those looking to extend their fun can even pair their ice walk with a ride on the Banff Gondola, a tubing pass at Mt. Norquay, or a snowshoeing expedition. View our winter ice walk packages here!
