Banff Horseback Riding

The Bow River Ride is a 1 hour horseback ride along the Bow River and past the natural sulphur hot springs flowing from the Cave & Basin – the original historic hot springs. 

Participants must check-in at least 30 minutes before the scheduled tour time. There will be no refunds for late arrivals. All participants must be at least 8 years of age and weigh less than 230 lbs to horseback ride. All riders must wear closed toe shoes (no sandals or high heels) and long pants is preferable. All participants will be required to sign a waiver and wear a helmet. All minors under 18 years old must have a parent or legal guardian on the ride with them.

The Bow River Ride is a 1 hour horseback ride along the Bow River and past the natural sulphur hot springs flowing from the Cave & Basin – the original historic hot springs. The Bow River Evening Ride is the same as the daytime Bow River Ride however departs later in the day at 5:30pm.

Breathe in the pine-spiced mountain air as you approach the Bow Falls. You’ll also pass by the famous Fairmont Banff Springs Golf Course on this ride – one of the most immaculately manicured courses in Canada.

This ride is an extension of the 1 Hour Bow River Ride, which rides along the tranquil Bow River – an area home to wildlife in amongst the thick marshes and grassy meadows. You will pass by the historic Cave and Basin, the birth place of Banff National Park. The ride then continues with fantastic scenery as you climb up Sulphur Mountain around the Windy Knoll viewpoint before returning to the stables.

Enjoy gazing up at sky-piercing mountaintops, thick alpine forests, rolling hills and jagged rock formations on this ride. While travelling along the Sundance Canyon Trail, keep an eye out for beaver, elk, coyotes and occasionally, bears. Continue your ride around the Windy Knoll as you climb Sulphur Mountain for spectacular views of the Bow Valley, before we follow the Bow River back to Warner Stables.

Enjoy a half day ride that will give you a scenic introduction into the quiet backcountry of Banff National Park. See the renowned Rimrock Resort Hotel, and then trek down to the valley and lead your horse across the lively Spray River. Water and a light snack will be provided during a short rest break.
